Davies takes points lead in EJC battle

Thursday, 4 August 2011 10:44 GMT

A group of seven riders fought for the lead at the start, with McLean proving to be a tough contender. Although Davies pushed as hard as possible he could not break the tow of McLean and the chasing pack, and at the final chicane any one of the top seven riders were in contention. McLean tried his hardest to break past Davies but was held off by the Australian and then passed by Fenoll, who had previously set the fastest lap of the race. Davies went on to win, followed by Fenoll in 2nd and McLean taking the final podium step. McLean's performance is particularly impressive given that this was his first time at the circuit, or on the Kawasaki Ninja 250R. Germany's Tom Busch was visibly distraught as he lost his championship lead finishing in 4th ahead of British 125 GP rider Lee Jackson and the increasingly strong American rider Brandon Kyee.

The series, which sees rider representation from 9 different countries, now heads towards its final two rounds, the Nurburgring (Germany) at the start of September and then the grand finale at Magny-Cours (France).
